Role Summary
This role presents an exciting opportunity to support the demands of our growing business. Groundhog Landscaping Ltd,. Eco Springs Irrigation & Lighting, and Natural Turf service the Greater Toronto Area. We specialize in designing, creating, installing, and maintenance of landscapes, irrigation and lighting systems. We are looking for Horticultural Technicians to join our team for the upcoming season. The candidate must be a team player with a positive attitude, who loves to work outdoors and is willing to learn.
A certificate/diploma in a Horticulture program will be considered an asset, however is not required. There is potential to participate in the apprenticeship program if desired.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
As a Horticultural Technician, you are attentive on sustainable growing techniques, and you maintenance practices to help increase the biodiversity of the urban and suburban landscape.
- Complete tasks related to the maintenance of our customer properties – spring and fall clean up, weeding, pruning and deadheading, mulching and amending existing gardens, planting of annuals, perennials, shrubs, and trees, creating new gardens, grass cutting, lawn mowing, trimming/edging of lawn, blowing etc.
- Communicate with customers and crew members in a professional manner
- Travel to multiple customer properties throughout the day
- Conduct daily inspections of the work vehicle, tools/equipment and perform the required maintenance
- Ensure work is performed efficiently and safely in accordance with WSIB standards
- Complete and submit all required paperwork on a daily basis
- Comply with all company policies and regulations
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Knowledge of turf, plant material and horticultural maintenance is considered an asset
- Horticulture certification/diploma is considered a valuable asset
- Capable of operating machinery
- Have previous customer service experience
- Are fit to work outdoors in all weather conditions and with noise for extended periods of time
- Can perform repetitive duties and physical labour (lift 50lbs)
- Able to work flexible working hours, including the occasional weekend
- Have a G Driver’s License and clean driving abstract (abstract available upon request)
- Capable of effectively communicating in English, both oral and written
- Possess general computer skills
- Able to work independently and in a team environment with minimal supervision

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
We are searching for someone to nstall irrigation and lighting systems,interpret drawings/maps to install pipes, wire, irrigation controllers and lighting transformers.
- Provide maintenance of existing irrigation and outdoor lighting systems to our customer properties, including:Spring Opening Inspections, Mid-Season Inspections, Winterizations, Repairs/Retrofits of Existing Systems, Diagnosing/Troubleshooting etc.
- Communicate with customers and crew members in a professional manner
- Conduct daily inspections of the work vehicle, tools/equipment, and perform the required maintenance
- Travel to multiple customer properties throughout the day
- Maintain parts inventory in company vehicle, and load and unload materials as required
- Ensure work is performed efficiently and safely in accordance with WSIB standards
- Complete and submit all required paperwork on a daily basis
- Comply with all company policies and regulations
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Certifications in irrigation are considered an asset, but not essential
- Ability to use tools and equipment is considered an asset
- Are fit to work outdoors in all weather conditions, and with noise for extended periods of time
- Able to perform physical labour and lift up to 50lbs
- Can work a flexible work schedule to adhere to customer needs. Depending on the season, weekend work is required

As a Turf Care Technician, you will be responsible to mow, plant, water, fertilize, aerate, weed, and more to help lawns flourish in a residential and corporate setting.

About You
You are a detailed, organized, passionate, caring and service-oriented individual.You will act as a coordinator, facilitator, accelerator, communicator, and central hub for the many divisions of Groundhog Landscaping Ltd. You will also take responsibility for ensuring that organizational processes are run effortlessly and efficiently. About the role you’ll play:
The office administrator is an integral part of the team. The office administrator works closely with clients, subcontractors, team members, and the management team to drive the advancement of the company. Working closely with everyone, the office administrator is an important member of the team, carrying out a wide variety of responsibilities. This full-time position will work out of our office in Etobicoke, ON.
What you’ll be doing:
- Handling all questions, information requests, and complaints regarding services.
- Leading the frontline communication with prospective and current clients, and team members.
- Maintain client records, processing new client requests, program renewals, and client collections.
- Collecting data, key client metrics, and preparing reports. Assisting the office team with campaigns, and events.
- Promote organization to prospective client and encourage current clients to leverage our services to the fullest.
- Provide administrative support for scheduling (creating routes), confirming appointments and dispatching our crews.
- Provide administrative support to the management team. Preparing client marketing materials.
- Work with teammates to align priorities and activities. Represent Groundhog Landscaping Ltd. at meetings and events.
- Provide administrative support with the accounting department to track purchases/transactions.
- Ensuring office supply inventories are maintained. Provide administrative support with the accounting staff to track payables and receivables.
